| CITAZIONE With the success of Sin City, which starred Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro, Rosario Dawson, Clive Owen and a massive supporting cast, a sequel to the Frank Miller/Robert Rodriguez film was supposedly just around the corner. But as the weeks turn into months, there is still no sight of Sin City 2. After some recent interviews with Frank Miller and Michael Madsen, it sure doesn't look like Sin City 2 will grace theatres any time soon.
Michael Madsen, who starred in Reservoir Dogs and was a member of Sin City's ensemble cast, spoke to Premiere.com about Sin City 2, and about the production problems the film has been going through, "They haven't shot it yet. I don't know if they ever will. I am not sure [about] the franchise. I think the Grindhouse thing didn't kind of work out..." While discussing his relationship with Frank Miller, Michael Madsen said, "I haven't seen the script for Sin City 2. I don't know if they are gonna make it. I hope they do. And if and when they do, I will be in it."
That's not exactly the most reassuring news for fans of the Frank Miller graphic novel or the Sin City film franchise. However, Frank Miller himself tried to set the record straight in an interview he gave to Rotten Tomatoes UK. Miller said, "Sin City 2 is still likely to happen, just not right away. The script is written and Robert [Rodriguez] and I are raring to go, but it looks like I'm going to be doing The Spirit first and Robert's going to be doing Barbarella first."
While it seems difficult to get a straight answer out of Frank Miller concerning the sequel to Sin City, Miller was much more forthcoming about The Spirit, his next big film project. Miller confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to play a super-villain in Miller's next directorial project. Samuel L. Jackson won't be just any old super-villain, though, as the Snakes on a Plane star will portray an evil Octopus on the big screen.
Frank Miller said that The Spirit may be filmed in a 3D format, though nothing has been set in stone. Frank Miller told Rotten Tomatoes UK that, "Plans to do my own 3D film are forming in my head." Miller also said that those plans were in his head, "within ten minutes of when (U2 3D) started; it's that good."
